Saturday Screen Time #12: Going in blind

Happy Saturday, everyone! I only had time to watch a couple movies this week and again, none were five stars. They were both a bit bleak, so I'm looking to find something a little happier next week (maybe)!

THIS WEEK IN FILM

Mysterious Skin - Never have I watched a movie that made me more uncomfortable than Mysterious Skin. I had no idea what it was about other than what the synopsis said, which wasn't much. What I got was a story that was incredibly difficult to watch, but also incredibly powerful. Honestly, I wasn't sure how to rate it. Giving this film a high rating almost feels wrong just based on the content. Yes, it was hard to watch, but it was also a fantastic, moving story about how two kids handle tragedy very differently.  I can't really say much about this movie other than that it is definitely not for everyone and you should probably Google the trigger warnings if you decide to give it a go. (4/5 stars)

Murder on the Orient Express - Again, I knew nothing about this story. I'm very new to Agatha Christie. The only other experience I've had with her work was the miniseries, And Then There Were None. I loved that, so I hoped I'd love this too. Unfortunately, it ended up being a little too ridiculous. I loved trying to figure out who was guilty and getting to the answer was a lot of fun! The answer itself just required too much suspension of disbelief (and even then it was underwhelming). I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. (3/5 stars)

Have you seen either of these? What did you think?
What movies have you watched lately?
Let me know in the comments!
