Feature & Follow Friday #57: A hated book

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
Name a book you hated.

How interesting that this fell in the same week as the top ten & series books I DNF'd... Anyway, a book I've hated (and finished)?

As always, I'm sure this is an unpopular opinion, but I couldn't stand Feed. I hated the characters and the story... You can read my review here if you're interested!

Feature & Follow #56: Dream library

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
If you had the money what would your own
personal library look like?

I totally and completely plan to have a library at some point in the not-too-distant future! I plan to decorate it in gorgeous pastel greens and purples... kind of like my blog! But we're not talking about real-life! We're talking about dream libraries. And here's mine:

I absolutely need a secret room inside my library with a second SECRET library inside!! Library goals...

This Week's Question:
You can only eat one cuisine type for the rest
of your life. Which would you choose?

Holy crap, this is a hard one. I LOVE Mexican food and I LOVE Japanese food. So... I refuse to choose just one. I'm picking Mexican and Japanese food.

Sorry, not sorry.

Feature & Follow Friday #53: Required reading

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
Is there a book that you were required to read
in school that you actually loved?

YES!! I actually did a whole post on this right after I started my blog! You can check out the full post here, but here's the answer in images:

Coincidentally, I'm giving away two of these in my Horror Reading Challenge giveaway (in the sidebar)! It's for participants only, so make sure to sign up if you want a chance at the goods!

What were your favorite school required reads?

F&F Friday #52: Tattoos!

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
If you have a tattoo, share a picture and its meaning.

Well, I never thought I'd be showing off tattoos on my book blog, but okay! I actually have three. I'll share in the order of when I got them! Please excuse my dog... I used my webcam today because I was feeling lazy.

This was my first tattoo! I kept saying I wanted one and so finally my husband (then fiance) called
me on my bluff and dragged me into a tattoo shop right after dinner one night. I ended up
getting the original EPCOT Center logo on my ankle because it's my favorite place!

This one is my "Hidden" Mickey! I originally wanted it in white, but the tattoo artist convinced me
that white would be a bad idea because it would fade to yellow over time. This one
honestly isn't my favorite, but I still like it because... well, Mickey!!

Last but not least is the tattoo I had done for my wedding and added to a year later (photo removed).
The quote is written in Quenya and says "So this is love," with our wedding date (12-21-12) under it.
This wayI was able to combine my love of Disney with my love of LotR and tie them into my
wedding! The next year I had a Lorien brooch added. I didn't realize how weird they
actually looked until I decided to get one tattooed on me... But I still like it.

F&F Friday #51: Character for a day

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
If you could step into one characters shoes and
be them for a day who would it be and why?

I have the distinct feeling that my answer will be very similar to a few others today... but the heart wants what the heart wants!

F&F Friday #50: Movie Pitch

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
How would you pitch to the biz to make
your favorite book into a movie?

Hmm... this is not my favorite topic ever, but it's certainly exciting! And it goes along well with this week's Top Ten Tuesday too! I really have no idea how I'd go about pitching a movie idea... I'm sorry, I'm boring! But if I had to pick just one it would be Splintered! Because it would make such an epic movie!!

Feature & Follow #49: TBR List

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
How many books have you
got on your TBR list?

Well... this is embarrassing. I think I have more books on my TBR list than my read list on Goodreads. That has been confirmed. My read list on Goodreads is currently at 337, while my to-read list is at 419. I didn't start tracking religiously until last year, so maybe that will level out at some point.

It's doubtful.

Feature & Follow Friday #48: Organization

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
How do you organize your books?
Either at home on your bookshelves or
on your reading-device, or on your bookish
platform like Goodreads, Leafmarks or Booklikes.

Home bookshelves: I have three. The first one is filled with only YA books. The top shelf has some of my favorites and the second shelf is my immediate TBR. The other shelves are just... the rest. The second is really old books and adult titles. It's pretty much organized by favorite authors: J.R.R. Tolkien, Anne Rice, Dan Brown, Michael Crichton, Philippa Gregory... The last bookshelf holds my middle grade books and Disney-related books.

Goodreads shelves: These are really disorganized. The only real organization is by genre and last year I started trying to track them by year. One day I'll get in there and make it pretty.

Feature & Follow #47: Deciding what to read

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
How do you decide what books to read?

Before I started blogging I kind of just roamed around the internet trying to find something to read. But since coming to the blogosphere I've found so many new resources! I love that I find new books every single Wednesday! Now I don't have any shortage of new books AT ALL! I actually have the opposite problem now... Now I decide what to read by kind of reading a few pages and deciding whether to keep going. Sometimes it works and sometimes I get halfway through before changing my mind.

Make sure to check out my blogiversary giveaway before it ends on the 9th! --->

Feature & Follow Friday #46: Reading slump cure

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
How do you cure a reading slump?

Today I'm going to do something a little out of the ordinary. Instead of answering this question I'm asking because I honestly have no answer. I'm in the hugest slump right now! Between my husband coming home after four months away and trying to make it through finals I've been down in the reading dumps!! Help!!!

Feature & Follow Friday #45: What's in [my] name?

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
How did you come up with your blog title and address?
Does it have a special meaning for you?

Well... I guess I'm about to give away my secret. I didn't come up with my blog name. So there I was, trying to come up with something super cute and creative to call my brand spankin' new blog and I was coming up empty. I knew that I wanted it to be in some way related to dog eared pages because that was how my mom taught me how to bookmark a page. It makes me cringe a little now, but that was what she told me and that was what I did until I actually started paying for my own books! Unfortunately, every name I could think of was already taken! My friend was helping me brainstorm and threw out "Cornerfolds" as a suggestion and it was available!

Feature & Follow Friday #44: My next big purchase

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
Here is $100,000. Buy something.
Anything at all! What would be the first
thing you choose, and why?

I'm sure this is going to come as a TOTAL shock to everyone, but my first purchase with that huge chunk of money would be to buy into the new Disney World Polynesian Villas & Bungalows! My husband and I are already DVC (Disney Vacation Club) members and own at Bay Lake Tower, but we're dying to add on at the Polynesian!

Feature & Follow #43: Books I ended up hating

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
Have you ever read a book you thought
you'd hate but loved? Or vice versa?

I can't say I've read any books I thought I'd hate... I generally only read books I plan to love! Haha! But I have read quite a few that I ended up not loving at all. I think a lot of it happens when I buy into the hype and go in expecting too much. Here are five books that I thought I would love and really... didn't.
  1. Asylum by Madeleine Roux
  2. The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter
  3. Mortal Danger by Ann Aguirre
  4. Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
  5. SilverMoonLight by Mara Woolf
By the way, I finally got GFC to work! If you haven't followed via GFC please do!!

Feature & Follow #42: Dreams

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
Have you ever had a reoccurring dream?
What was it?

I can't say I have had any recurrent dreams. But the dreams that I wish were recurrent involve flying! I've had a few flying dreams over the years and those are the absolute best!! The one other dream... dream I have is lucid dreaming. I've done a lot of reading about lucid dreaming, I just haven't tried applying it. Have any of you had a lucid dream experience?

This Week's Question:
Have you ever been to BEA?
If not, what's stopping you?

I haven't been to BEA! I'm almost a year into blogging and I only recently found out it! I'm dying to go, but schedule and location are currently stopping me. I'm definitely hoping to go one day!!

Feature & Follow Friday #40: Fictional Inspiration

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
Have you ever been inspired by
a book character to do something?
Who was the character and what was it?

What a great question!! I really had to think long and hard about this one, but my answer is ultimately YES! I have been inspired by more than one character and as far as I can tell, they have inspired me in some more serious areas of life.

For example, Catherine from Into the Darkest Corner inspired me to get a grip on some OCD tendencies I had been noticing. Her life scared me a little, even though it was fiction. Now I can throw my coffee cups in the cabinet in any order without being bothered! :P

And I've recently been inspired by Penryn from Angelfall. When reading this series I was struck by the way Penryn was able to handle herself in pretty much any situation and realized that I definitely couldn't do the same! I've been giving some very serious thought recently to self defense training.

I can't wait to hear the ways everyone else has been inspired by fictional characters!! This is why we read!

Feature & Follow Friday #39: Blog features

Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week's Question:
Have you come up with any special memes
or features on your blog that you'd
like people to visit more?

Well, not really. Back when I first started my blog I had a feature on Saturdays called Spine-tingling Saturday. I would feature a scary story every week from Reddit's Nosleep and sometimes interview their authors. Alas, not many people were interested and I stopped frequenting Nosleep. Oh well. Better luck next time!
