Welcome back to Disney for the Weekend! I've spent a couple topics talking about Disney movies in the last several months. I shared my favorite Disney Channel movies and top underrated Disney movies! Today I want to go in a different direction: sequels. I feel like sequels are something that a lot of people avoid because a lot of them tend to be... well, not great. But I'm giving them some love! This week at least... Next week I'll be back with the worst, but for today I'm going to give a shoutout to my top five favorite Disney sequels!
The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride
Why save the best for last when I can talk about it first instead? The Lion King 2 is my absolute favorite Disney sequel and it has held up over the years. I loved this movie SO MUCH as a kid that I pretty much took on the name Vitani because she was my favorite. And obviously I love Kovu because he's a bad boy who has a softer side, and is (tall?) dark and handsome so what's not to love? In fact, all of the characters are great in this movie and I love to see how Kiara grows as a person(?) from start to finish!
Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas
While there are multiple sequels to Beauty and the Beast, this one is hands down the best and the only one that I've ever considered owning. I love it and I watch it every Christmas! You may or may not know that I am a HUGE fan of the Beast and was super disappointed when he changed back into Prince Adam. Getting to watch another really great movie with Beast as Beast is just awesome!
I actually saw The Rescuers Down Under before I ever saw The Rescuers so this is the one I always thought came first. It's also my favorite of the two movies. The plot of this movie is just fantastic! I didn't know what a poacher was before this movie. The Rescuers Down Under was a movie that taught real life issues! My favorite part? The eagle, obviously. I was sure he was magic as a kid. I was really surprised to see that both this movie and it's predecessor received ratings of 6.9 on IMDb! They deserve so much more!! I think it may be time to watch this one again...
Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast
Fun fact about me: when I don't feel well I watch Tinker Bell movies! It started with the first one and I now own all of them because you never know what kind of Tinker Bell you'll be in the mood for when you're sick! The Legend of the NeverBeast is my personal favorite, which totally surprised me! The sweet little NeverBeast is adorable and the story made me feel so many feels!! Definitely watch this if you haven't! It's not just for kids!
Pooh's Grand Adventure
This movie is just nostalgia. For anyone who can't remember, this is the one where Pooh "loses" Christopher Robin and has to find him. The story is just ridiculously heartwarming. I will never NOT love a Pooh movie but some are definitely better than others and this one gets an A+ from me! I recently decided to try to find this movie and apparently it's pretty hard to come by and doesn't exist on blu ray, unfortunately. It is available to rent on Amazon though, so I may check it out sometime soon!
Do you like any of my top five Disney sequels? Are there any of them that you actually hate?
Which ones would you add to the list? Let me know in the comments!
