2020 TBR Revisited

As I recently discussed, I am a terrible mood reader. For this reason, I almost never follow my TBR, but I still make them for Top Ten Tuesday posts four times per year. I thought it would be fun to look back at my lists for 2020 and see how many books I actually got around to reading!

12 out of 36. Oof. (Note: Since I made this graphic I did start and DNF Addie LaRue.)

Of the books I read, most were sequels or series enders. The new-to-me books that I picked up were The Project by Courtney Summers, A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown, The Hollow Places by T. Kingfisher, and When No One is Watching by Alyssa Cole. My favorites of the twelve were The Fires of Vengeance by Evan Winter and The Empire of Gold by S.A. Chakraborty, both highly anticipated sequels.

Despite not having read them, I do own seventeen additional books on this list. I may need to go on a buying ban, to be honest. Maybe I'll actually get around to reading them in the year to come!

Do you stick to TBR lists?
Have you read any of these?
Let me know in the comments!

#TBRTakedown Read-a-thon

So... today when I was pursuing the interwebs I came across a read-a-thon that seems to be picking up a lot of speed in the BookTube community. Even though I'm not going near YouTube with a 10-foot pole, I thought it sounded like a lot of fun and might even help me with these physical TBR issues I've been having lately.

Here's the announcement video for the challenge!

The idea behind this read-a-thon is to whittle away at all of those books that have been slowly piling up on your bookshelves over the course of a week (June 1-7). There are five mini-challenges to make it a little more interesting!

  1. A book that's been on your TBR shelf over a year!
  2. An unread sequel sitting on your TBR shelf.
  3. A first book in a series on your TBR shelf.
  4. An "out of your comfort zone" book on le TBR shelf!
  5. A book from your most recent book haul!

Five books in a week is a little too ambitious for me since it's physical copies only and audiobooks don't count so I've decided to combine some of these categories and plan to read a total of 3 books.

Here is my TBR for the read-a-thon (I'm an extremely indecisive mood reader and can't make this decision now... so these are the options):

A book that's been on your TBR for over a year/A first book in a series

An unread sequel/A book from your most recent book haul

An "out of your comfort zone" book

So there it is! The read-a-thon begins on Monday and I am SUPER excited to get started on this one! Is anyone else planning to participate?

May goals: Blog Ahead & TBR

OMG I'm about to graduate!!!

Finally, I might have some time to get ahead and read a little more of what I feel like reading. So I've decided to make a post attempting to hold myself accountable.

Blog Ahead

This month I've signed up for Blog Ahead! This is extra important since I am going on a two week vacation later this month (one week of that I'll be totally off the grid). If I don't have posts ready to go then I won't have anything on the blog!! I'm hoping to catch up on memes and post some good discussions... even though I won't be here to discuss. So here we go! Hopefully I can get this done before I leave! Wish me luck! XD

May TBR

I don't usually make lists because I'm terrible (terrible) about deviating from what I intend to read. But since I'll be gone for two weeks and can only read what I have with me, I'm hoping to cut down on a few books. Since I'm participating in the TBR Reduction challenge this year I'm going to try to make at least half of those books that have been hanging around my TBR list for awhile!

Hard Copies

Audiobooks

Wish me luck, everyone! The end of school is coming!!!
